We did not scrape live rates, so treat every range as a planning baseline, not a quote, read "as of" the date at the top of this post. The one claim below that is not ours is the calendar: hurricane-season dates come from NOAA, cited in place.

The index excludes airfare, ground transport, bar tabs and tipping, and its methodology notes real trips run 15–25% above the modeled figure — call it $2,000–$2,190 a head.
The $750 lodging line is a per-room number. The index picks the cheapest nightly rate that sleeps the group; in Nassau that is a resort room, so it multiplies by four rooms and never divides across your headcount. It is the largest figure in the table and the easiest to change.
The $600 dining line is structural. Three of our four Nassau restaurants are top-tier — Nobu at Atlantis, Fish by José Andrés, and Graycliff with its 250,000-bottle cellar — and only Twin Brothers at Arawak Cay sits at $$. A median Nassau dinner is $150 a head against $55 in New Orleans: a $380 gap across four stops.
Villa or resort rooms — what does lodging actually cost?
From $150 to $1,200 per person for the same three nights, and the split is whole-property versus per-room. All three properties in our Nassau catalog, divided across 8 people over 3 nights:

Read the first two rows together. The villa floor is $150 per person against $450 for the cheapest resort — a clean 3× gap, and the villa sleeps 14, so a crew of 8 has room to spare. Run the index again on it and the lodging line falls from $750 to $356 at the midpoint, taking the trip from $1,750 to $1,356. Nothing else moves; you have simply stopped paying four times for one roof.
The counterweight: our record puts the villa "a short ride from the casino and beaches," while the resorts are the casino and beaches. Our transport data prices that gap at $4–$8 per person on the Nassau ↔ Paradise Island water taxi, with airport transfers at $35–$70 per group each way. Against a $394 saving, the ride is not the deciding factor.
Should you base in the Out Islands instead of Nassau?
Our catalog cannot price that trip, and we would rather say so than guess. Nassau / Paradise Island is the only Bahamas destination we carry — no Exuma, Eleuthera, Harbour Island or Abaco entry, and therefore no lodging, dining or nightlife records to divide across eight people. That absence is also why our Bahamas state page is short: it is a one-destination page, not a thin one. If you are choosing an Out Islands base, we are not yet a useful source, and no number here should be stretched to cover it.
What our data carries is the Out Islands as a day, not a base. The Exuma Swimming Pigs Day Trip — powerboat out to swim with pigs, nurse sharks and iguanas — runs $200–$450 per person, full day, 4 to 16 people. It is the priciest activity in our Nassau set and the only one that leaves New Providence. So our catalog's answer to "Nassau or the Out Islands" is practical: base in Nassau, spend a day out there.
The rest of the week is cheaper than that headline suggests — the Sandbar & Snorkel Sunset Cruise at $70–$140 for three hours to a reef and a sandbar bar stop (the lowest-priced thing we carry here), Blue Lagoon Island at $80–$160 for a private-island beach day, Aquaventure at $150–$250 for the 141-acre waterpark and its Leap of Faith shark-tank slide, and a deep-sea fishing charter at $150–$350 for a half day.
Why is our Nassau nightlife list so short?
Because Nassau's catalog is largely an Atlantis catalog, and Atlantis does not do cheap. Five of our Nassau entries name Atlantis outright — Aura Nightclub, the Atlantis Casino, Nobu, Aquaventure and the Royal tower — and a sixth, Fish by José Andrés, sits at The Cove on the same property. There is no $ tier anywhere in our Nassau nightlife list; the floor is $$.
The one counterweight is Arawak Cay, the Fish Fry strip — the only place in our data where the cheap bar and the cheap dinner are the same stop: Goombay Smashes and live music at the bar, cracked conch and tableside conch salad at Twin Brothers next door. If you want a Nassau night that is not a resort night, our catalog offers exactly one.
This is also why our 3-day itinerary quotes a wider $935–$2,175 per person — it anchors on an Atlantis room and the Exuma trip rather than the cheapest room and the median activity, and adds a nightlife cover line the index leaves out. The $1,750 above sits inside that band. Neither figure is a quote.
When should you go?
November through May, per our Nassau destination data. Lynden Pindling International (NAS) is about 30 minutes from the resorts, and Nassau carries a bachelor score of 8 in our catalog.
That window is our own catalog's call, so here is the outside check on it. NOAA's National Hurricane Center runs the Atlantic hurricane season June 1 through November 30, with the most active stretch from mid-August into October. Lined up against our recommended months, December through May sits entirely outside the season — November does not. It is the season's final month, well past the peak, but a named storm in the first half of November is squarely within the published window. Unlike a rained-out pool day in Miami, the exposure here is flights: an island trip that loses its inbound leg loses the trip. If you book the November edge, a refundable fare is part of the budget, not an upsell.
