Lafayette Blue Moon Zydeco + Cajun Crawfish Weekend — Lafayette, LA

Destination: Lafayette, LANights: 3Group: 412Season: March, April, May, October, NovemberEstimated: $700–$1,500/person

Blue Moon Saloon books live zydeco and Cajun music seven nights a week — the dance floor doesn't sit still. Sleep at the Blue Moon Guesthouse next door so the walk home is fifteen feet. Day-two crawfish boil at Prejean's (chargrilled oysters, étouffée, the fais-do-do soundtrack), Cajun Country Swamp Tour into the Atchafalaya for gator-spotting and cypress, then Vermilionville's living-history complex for the Bayou heritage rundown. Cafe Vermilionville (1835 inn, fine Cajun dining) for the closing dinner. Lafayette (LFT) is the regional fly; New Orleans (MSY) is 2 hours and the better commercial routing.

Questions

Crawfish season?
Late February through early June — peak is March-April. Outside season, the boils still happen with frozen tail meat (different but worth it).
Is Blue Moon really every night?
Live music six-to-seven nights/week year-round. Tuesdays and Sundays are typically zydeco proper; Friday-Saturday lean Cajun. Cover ranges $5-15.
Atchafalaya tour pick?
Cajun Country Swamp Tours (Champagne's) or McGee's Swamp Tour — both run morning and afternoon flat-bottom boat runs. Allow 2 hours plus drive time.
