Ole Smoky's flagship distillery in Gatlinburg — 'The Holler' — is the most-visited distillery in America for a reason: live bluegrass on the porch, white dog tastings, moonshine pour decks. Day two: Sugarlands distillery for the legitimate bourbon program, then a Smoky Mountains drive for the foliage if the crew is in late October. Volunteers home game on Saturday is the proper send-off — Market Square fills before kickoff with Tupelo Honey biscuits and tailgate energy. The Tennessean rooftop for night-one cocktails. Knoxville (TYS) is direct from most hubs.

Vols home game timing?
September through late November. Check schedule at utsports.com — Saturday kickoff fills Market Square at 11 a.m. for noon games.
Smokies day trip?
Cades Cove loop (45 min from Gatlinburg) is the photo run; Newfound Gap road for the higher altitude. Whole loop is a half-day.
