Greenville's downtown has been quietly excellent for a decade — Falls Park on the Reedy with the Liberty Bridge curving over the waterfall, Main Street's tree-lined dining district, Six & Twenty Distillery's tasting room two blocks off the river. Day one: distillery tour ($15 includes a cocktail), dinner at Soby's New South Cuisine (since 1997, the city's institution). Day two: a Saluda River whitewater half-day with Wildwater Adventures, Yeah! Burger lunch, Highway 11 Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway drive afternoon. Sleep at Hotel Domestique (Cycling-themed luxury, 13 rooms, run by George Hincapie) or the Westin Poinsett (1925 historic, downtown). Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP) is direct from most hubs.

Six & Twenty pour cost?
$15 distillery tour includes one cocktail. Tasting flights $15-25. Awards: 2018-2021 American Craft Spirits Association silver/gold. Open Mon-Wed 12-8, Thu 12-10, Fri-Sat 11-10, closed Sundays.
Falls Park crowds?
Saturday afternoons are wall-to-wall. Sunday morning 9 a.m. is empty and the light is right for the Liberty Bridge photo.
Hotel Domestique — really cycling-themed?
Yes — owner George Hincapie was a U.S. Postal teammate of Lance Armstrong. Tour de France memorabilia, on-property cycling, group rides Saturday mornings. 30 minutes north of downtown Greenville.
