Eureka Springs Crescent Hotel + Onyx Cave Weekend — Eureka Springs, AR

Destination: Eureka Springs, ARNights: 2Group: 516Season: April, May, October, NovemberEstimated: $1,500–$2,700/person

1886 Crescent Hotel — five stories of Victorian limestone built as a luxury resort, then a women's college, then a fraudulent cancer hospital (Norman Baker, 1937-39, eventually convicted of mail fraud), then haunted-as-hell tourist attraction. Ghost tours run nightly at 8 and 10 p.m. with stops at the morgue (real, in the basement, with the original sliding cooler doors). Day one: ghost tour, dinner at the hotel's Crystal Dining Room. Day two: Onyx Cave Park (1893, oldest commercial cave in Arkansas, 90-minute guided tour), Thorncrown Chapel (1980 Frank Lloyd Wright-influenced glass chapel in the woods), the historic Spring Street pub crawl. Northwest Arkansas (XNA) is the gateway.

Questions

Ghost tour worth it?
Yes — the Crescent runs them with actual research, not just camp. Norman Baker's mail-fraud cancer hospital story is real. The morgue tour is the closer. $30/person, 90 minutes.
Onyx Cave timing?
Open daily April-November, 90-minute guided tours every hour. $20/adult. Bring a light jacket — 60°F year-round.
Thorncrown access?
Free, open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April-November (closed December-March). The chapel takes 15 minutes; the walk in adds another 15. Wear quiet shoes — services and weddings happen during posted hours.
