Sentiero Azzurro coastal trail — five villages connected by 7.5 miles of Mediterranean cliff path (Riomaggiore-Manarola-Corniglia-Vernazza-Monterosso). Hike one direction, train back. Day-two boat tour Monterosso to Portovenere (lemon groves, swim stops, Cinque Terre views from the water). Day three: focaccia-and-pesto crawl (Monterosso anchovies, Vernazza basil pesto, Manarola DOC vermentino). Sleep at Hotel Porto Roca (Monterosso cliff). Pisa (PSA) or La Spezia (regional rail) are the gateways.

Boat tour cost?
$50-80/person for half-day Monterosso-Portovenere round trip. Multiple operators run from Monterosso harbor. May-October only.
Best month?
May-June for wildflowers + warm-not-hot weather. September for fewer crowds + warm Mediterranean swimming. Avoid July-August (peak crowds, 90°F+, hike sections close at midday).
