Branson Big Cedar Top of the Rock Weekend — Branson, MO

Big Cedar Lodge — Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris's 4,600-acre Ozark resort south of Branson — is the bachelor's underrated Midwest pick. Top of the Rock (the par-3 golf course at the Ozark Mountains' highest point) plus Lost Canyon Cave + Nature Trail (a 2.5-mile electric-cart tour through limestone caverns and waterfalls) is the day-one move. Day two: a Table Rock Lake bass charter, Missouri Ridge Distillery (gold-medal whiskey, working farm), dinner at Devil's Pool Restaurant in the original 1922 hunting lodge. Day three is the Ozark Mountain Vineyard for the closing wine afternoon and the drive back. Branson (BKG) is the regional fly; Springfield (SGF) is the larger gateway, 45 minutes north.

It's a par-3 nine-hole — Tom Watson, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer all designed holes. $130-180/round. Cart includes the Lost Canyon scenic loop.
Big Cedar Lodge vs Branson Strip?
Big Cedar is 12 miles south, totally separate from Branson's neon-show strip. The bachelor crew that wants Top of the Rock + bass fishing skips the strip entirely. The crew that wants the kitsch-show energy bases in Branson proper.
Best month?
April-May for spring colors and bass fishing. September-October for the Ozark fall foliage. Avoid summer humidity and the pre-school-year crowd peak.
