Questions

Do you board on the dune itself?
Yes — Bruneau Dunes State Park rents sandboards at the visitor center. The 470-ft dune is the marquee descent. Bring your own helmet/goggles.
Snake vs Payette river?
Snake is the Class II-III mellow run (Bruneau side). Payette is Class III-IV — closer to Boise but more aggressive water.
Best time of year?
May-June for water; September-October for cooler dunes. July-August on the dunes is brutal (130°F surface temps).
