Do we need UTV experience?
No. Local outfitters like Lone Pine Outfitters can provide guided rides or rentals with instruction; the terrain is beginner-friendly with plenty of scenic stops.
Is free camping legal here?
Yes. BLM land around Alabama Hills allows dispersed camping at no cost; just pack out what you pack in and camp 100 feet from water sources.
What if it's too hot?
April, May, September, and October are ideal; summer temps exceed 95°F. Bring extra water, electrolytes, and plan early-morning rides.
