Day 1 — Wheels Down, Hops Up

2:00 PM

Arrive at cabin, settle in

Check into the South Slope cabin. Drop bags, grab water, get comfortable. Kevin's chill vibe means no rushing — this is HQ for the weekend.

Tip: Have the welcome kit waiting on the kitchen counter (see below).

3:30 PM

Downtime at the cabin — porch drinks, cards, shoot the shit

Crack open some IPAs from the welcome kit, settle into the porch chairs, and let the crew catch up. No agenda. This is Kevin's speed.

Tip: Set up a card game (poker chips in the cabin) — low stakes, high fun.

5:00 PM

Asheville Brewery Tour by Brew-Ed

Guided walking tour of 4 South Slope breweries with a local expert. Kevin gets to nerd out on dry hopping and IPA profiles with 'Professor Hops' energy. Tour ends around 7 PM.

Tip: Eat a solid snack before the tour — 4 breweries on an empty stomach is a rookie move.

7:30 PM

Casual dinner — White Duck Taco Shop

Creative tacos (Bangkok shrimp, lamb gyro) in a casual, no-fuss spot. Budget-friendly, delicious, and close to the cabin. Grab to-go or eat at the counter.

Tip: Order the Bangkok shrimp — it's Kevin's kind of flavor bomb.

9:00 PM

First night out — Burial Beer Co. dive bar crawl start

Hit Burial Beer Co. (South Slope) first — dark-art vibes, great stouts, and a chill crowd. This is dive-bar energy: no pretense, just good beer and conversation. Grab a stout and settle in.

Tip: Burial's the perfect opener — low-key, Kevin-friendly, and sets the tone for the weekend.

10:30 PM

Second bar — Wicked Weed Brewpub

Walk over to Wicked Weed's beer garden (5-min walk). Massive downtown brewery with sour beer cellar and outdoor seating. Grab a sour or another IPA and enjoy the night air.

Tip: Wicked Weed's sour selection is world-class — Kevin should try one even if he's an IPA guy.

12:00 AM

Late-night bite — 12 Bones Smokehouse (if open) or back to cabin

If 12 Bones is still open (check hours), grab some legendary BBQ. Otherwise, head back to the cabin for snacks and wind down. No 3 AM madness — Kevin's chill vibe means early-ish nights.

Tip: Grab a to-go order of brisket from 12 Bones if it's open — Kevin will lose his mind.

2

Day 2 — Mountains & Memories

10:00 AM

Wake up, coffee at the cabin

No early alarms. Brew coffee, eat the breakfast snacks from the welcome kit (bagels, fruit, granola), and ease into the day on the porch.

Tip: Have a Gatorade ready for hydration — yesterday's beer is still in the system.

11:00 AM

Appalachian Hiking — French Broad River Trail

4-mile moderate loop along the French Broad River. October weather is perfect (60–70°F, crisp air, fall colors). Kevin loves Appalachian hiking — this is his element. Hike takes 2.5 hours, gets the crew back by 1:30 PM.

Tip: Bring water, sunscreen, and a light jacket. The trail is well-marked and chill — no scrambling.

2:00 PM

Downtime at the cabin — pool/hot tub alternative: porch recovery

Back at the cabin by 2 PM. Shower off, crack open fresh IPAs, and settle into the porch for 3+ hours of pure downtime. Cards, conversation, snacks. This is Kevin's speed — no agenda, just the crew.

Tip: Order food delivery (pizza, sandwiches) to the cabin so nobody has to leave.

5:30 PM

Dinner prep — casual BBQ at the cabin (or nearby)

Kevin smokes brisket at home — honor that by either grilling at the cabin (if it has a grill) or grabbing takeout from 12 Bones Smokehouse. Eat on the porch, drink beer, enjoy the fall evening.

Tip: If the cabin has a grill, Kevin should fire it up — let him cook for the crew. If not, 12 Bones brisket is the move.

8:00 PM

Downtime at cabin — poker night setup

Set up a low-stakes poker tournament at the cabin. Chips, cards, whiskey, cigars on the porch. This is the crew's night — no going out, just hanging.

Tip: Buy a box of cheap cigars ($2–$3 each) from a local smoke shop. Kevin will appreciate the gesture.

10:00 PM

Optional: late-night bar run to Asheville Music Hall

If the crew wants to get out after poker, hit Asheville Music Hall downtown (live music venue, chill vibe, no cover charge usually). Otherwise, stay at the cabin and keep the poker game going.

Tip: Check if there's live music that night — if it's a local bluegrass act, Kevin will be all in (he loves Greensky Bluegrass and Billy Strings).

3

Day 3 — The Farewell Float

10:00 AM

Wake up, recovery breakfast at cabin

Coffee, bagels, fruit. Chill morning on the porch. No rushing — flights aren't until afternoon.

Tip: Hydrate hard. Electrolyte drink (Liquid IV) in the welcome kit.

10:30 AM

Asheville Food Tour by Eating Asheville

Guided walking tour hitting 6+ local spots with tastings. Educational, chill, and doubles as a recovery activity. Kevin gets to nerd out on local food culture. Tour ends by 1 PM.

Tip: This is a great way to say goodbye to Asheville — tasty, low-key, and Kevin-approved.

1:30 PM

Pack up, check out of cabin

Head back to the cabin, pack bags, settle up on shared costs (Venmo split). Leave by 2 PM for airport.

Tip: Designate one person to handle the Venmo — lodging split, activities, shared meals. Keep it simple.

2:30 PM

Uber to Asheville Regional Airport (AVL)

20-min drive from downtown. Book one Uber XL for the 4 of you — cheaper than 2 separate rides.

Tip: Book the Uber for 2:15 PM to give buffer time for traffic.

Pack This

  • - Hiking boots and moisture-wicking socks (French Broad River Trail is muddy in October)
  • - Light jacket or fleece (October evenings are crisp, 50–60°F)
  • - Sunscreen and sunglasses (fall sun is still strong on the trail)
  • - Casual bar clothes (jeans, t-shirt, flannel — dive bars don't care)
  • - Comfortable walking shoes for the food tour
  • - Toiletries and hangover recovery kit (Advil, Gatorade, antacid)
  • - Phone charger and portable battery (for photos and Uber)
  • - Cigar-friendly clothes (flannel, outdoor jacket for porch hangs)

Pro Tips

  • - Kevin's 'Professor Hops' nickname is gold — have someone toast to his dry-hopping lecture at the poker table on Day 2. The crew will lose it.
  • - October weather in Asheville is perfect (60–70°F days, crisp evenings), but bring a light jacket for the hike and evening porch hangs.
  • - South Slope breweries are walkable from the cabin — no Uber needed for Day 1 brewery tour. Save the rideshare budget for nightlife.
  • - If Kevin's college roommate from Atlanta actually shows up unannounced on Day 2, the poker game becomes legendary. Coordinate with the crew beforehand.
  • - Biscuit Head on Day 3 gets slammed on weekends — arrive by 10:30 AM or order ahead to avoid a 45-min wait.
  • - The French Broad River Trail is well-marked and chill — no scrambling or technical sections. Perfect for Kevin's Appalachian hiking vibe.
  • - Grab a box of cheap cigars ($2–$3 each) from a local smoke shop before Day 2 poker night. Kevin will appreciate the gesture.
  • - Asheville Music Hall often has live bluegrass or jam-band acts — check the schedule before Day 2 night. If there's a Greensky Bluegrass tribute or local bluegrass band, Kevin will want to go.

Group Logistics

Transport: Uber/Lyft only — no party bus needed for a 4-person crew. Estimate $7–$15 per ride within Asheville. Budget $35–$50/person for transport (airport to cabin, brewery tour, dinner runs, nightlife). Book one Uber XL for airport pickup/dropoff to save money.

Nightlife Strategy: Dive-bar crawl on Day 1: Burial Beer Co. → Wicked Weed Brewpub → optional late-night at Asheville Music Hall or back to cabin. No cover charges at any of these spots. Day 2 is poker night at the cabin (no going out unless there's live music Kevin wants to catch). Keep it chill — 3 bars max, no bottle service, no VIP tables. Budget $80–$100/person for drinks across the weekend.
